Reproductive rights are once again the center of a contentious debate, after the U.S. Supreme Court this week agreed to hear a case concerning a Mississippi ban on most abortions after 15 weeks of pregnancy; a panel of the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals had blocked enforcement of the law.
The Supreme Court’s willingness to take the case has prompted pro-choice advocates and Democratic state leaders in New Jersey, including Gov. Phil Murphy, to press the Legislature to pass the Reproductive Freedom Act, which was introduced last year.
