As other states look to set limits on reproductive care, New Jersey advocates are pushing for an expansion. A bill introduced in the Legislature in October would give women more access to birth control, abortion and other prenatal health needs.
The measure has yet to receive a hearing in Trenton. During a virtual forum, Assemblywoman Valerie Vainieri Huttle (D-Bergen), prime sponsor of the bill, said that in an election year, some lawmakers can be reluctant to get on the record on such a contentious issue.
